NHL News: Jujhar Khaira, Anaheim Ducks, Sam Reinhart, Stephane Da Costa, Calgary Flames

  • The Edmonton Oilers have signed Jujhar Khaira to a three-year, entry-level deal, per NHL.com. He registered six goals and 25 points in 37 games with Michigan Tech last season. The Oilers selected Khaira in the third round, 63rd overall, of the 2012 draft.
  • The Anaheim Ducks have signed a multi-year affiliation agreement with the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL, according to the Ducks official site. Anaheim’s previous ECHL affiliations have been in Fort Wayne (2012-13), Elmira (2010-12), Bakersfield (2008-10) and Augusta (2006-08). The Grizzlies posted a 29-30-4-9 record last season.
  • Sam Reinhart, who is currently projected to go first overall in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, got off to a strong start with Canada at the USA Hockey National Junior Evaluation Camp. He scored a goal in Canada’s 5-3 victory against Finland. The two countries are playing exhibition games versus the United States and Sweden in order to gain recognition for possible roster spots for the 2014 IIHF World Junior Championship.
  • The Ottawa Senators have s re-signed forward Stephane Da Costa to a one-year, two-way contract. Da Costa, 24, spend the majority of the 2012-13 season with the American Hockey League’s Binghamton Senators, sharing the team lead with 38 points (including 13 goals). He also appeared in nine games with Ottawa, scoring once and adding one assist.
  • The Calgary Flames announced that they have hired Robbie Ftorek as the Assistant Coach with the Abbotsford Heat of the American Hockey League and Todd Woodcroft as Scouting Director.
